It seems that there is a misconception that meal prep consists of old/boring/cold food and you hate your life the entire time you’re eating it. That honestly sounds like an excuse to me, that lazy people make to get out of prepping and eating homemade meals according to their plan. Don’t get me wrong- if you have the time and the desire to make all of your meals real time, MORE POWER TO YOU!!!! I just know for most, myself included that is not conducive to our lifestyle. Let’s go over the benefits.

-It saves time and money. It takes me about 2 hours to get everything ready for the week. I do that every Sunday. For 6 days of prep that’s 20 minutes a day… separate into 3 meals a day (sometimes 4 or 5) that’s on average 4 minutes a meal. 4 MINUTES. That’s it! Plus, having prepped food eliminates any excuse to deviate from your plan. Why hit the fast food chain down the street when you have yummy food already made in the fridge at work? 

-Which brings me to my next point. You will be much more likely to stay on point with your plan if all you have to do is throw your meal in the microwave. Which is 50% of the work to get you to your goals.

-Meal prep DOES NOT have to be boring plain chicken and rice. (I mean it can be if you like that) However, I haven’t made that for myself in years. Meal prepping can include virtually anything! My favorites at the moment are chili, sliders, overnight oats, stuffed sweet potato skins.. stir-fry.. the list goes on. As long as you portion it out and it fits your plan, you’re set!

 -Not to mention it will actually save you money. You read that right. IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY. I buy in bulk and eat home cooked meals about 90% of the week. I still love to eat out somewhere nice once or twice a week. But the majority of my meals are from home. Meaning one serving of chili is about $2. Think about how easy it is to spend $10 at McDonald’s for one meal and be hungry about 15 minutes later.

Now if those reasons weren’t enough to get you thinking. Consider this. When training and dieting and trying to reach a physique goal, you have to be able to track yourself to make sure you are doing everything you can 100%. There will be absolutely no question that your food is on point when it has been made at home, weighed and portioned out. You take all of the guesswork out. Which should leave you feeling confident and that confidence will flood over into other aspects of your life.
